SNOW ALERT!
Life saving tonight (Sunday 5th February) has been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions. Don't forget there is none next week either due to the half term break, but we will be back on Sunday 19th February. In the meantime, have fun in the snow, stay warm and safe, and have a great half term!
It is with great sadness that we report the death on Friday 30th December 2011 of our friend and colleague Bob.
Bob was a founder member of our Club. Before taking early retirement, he was a Computer Services Manager for a company supporting local government. After retirement he continued to volunteer much of his time to Life Saving, as a Trainer and Assessor for our club, National Trainer and Assessor for Lifesaving, Trainer and Assessor for Pool Lifeguarding, Chair of Felixstowe Beach Lifeguard Club and Honorary Secretary for RLSS Suffolk Branch. Before his illness, Bob was an active member of our Club Committee, ensuring we kept on top of all new developments in life saving and showing his creativity by producing all our Club posters and adverts (including the fantastic banner now displayed on poolside). Since his illness began, Bob carried on as a trainer for the Higher Awards class as much as he could, and was an assessor for the recent round of Life Support 3 exams. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his family and friends and all who knew him.

St Edmundsbury Life Saving Club (SELSC) is the lifesaving club for Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, and the surrounding areas. The club is fun and friendly, and new members are always welcome!
The aim of the club is simply to prevent the loss of life through drowning and asphyxiation. This aim is achieved through teaching the necessary skills to cope with situations where drowning and asphyxiation might otherwise occur.
We meet on Sundays in school term time, from 6pm until 8pm, at the Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre. The first hour is spent learning theory and practical skills out of the water, while the second hour is spent in the water.

Theory Hour
There is an exciting Rookies section for 8-13 year olds, teaching water safety and lifesaving skills at various levels. For older children and adults we provide regular scheduled RLSS UK Bronze Medallion courses by RLSS UK qualified trainers. Higher awards, and courses for National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches are also provided, when required.
