The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Bronze Medallion has been around since 1891 and has been the main RLSS award for many of those years!

The award has in recent years been updated and today is the 'National Standard for Community Lifesaving'. It encompasses the areas of Life Support (Resuscitation), Aquatic Rescue (Water-based Lifesaving Skills) and the Theory behind both areas.

At SELSC we offer the Bronze Medallion courses which run twice a year, starting in September and after half term in February. Courses take between 12 and 15 weeks and end with an external assessment of Competency in Life Support, Aquatic and Theory skills. Successful candidates receive a Certificate and Engraved Medallion and the qualification is valid for 24 months.

This award is ideal for anyone taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, looking towards a career in the Leisure Industry (ideal stepping stone to the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification), or pupils studying GCSE PE.

The course fee is £85 per candidate which includes Club Membership, Candidate Pack (with course information), and all the training up to the first assessment.

The next course starts on SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2008
