Child Protection Policy

St Edmundsbury Life Saving Club (SELSC) fully accepts the moral and legal responsibilities to provide a duty of care to protect all children, vulnerable adults and all others involved in club activities, and safeguard their welfare by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional harm.

All persons involved in operating SELSC and/or training classes will be required to complete a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Check upon joining the club. Each person will have to submit an annual declaration form once they have received the annual update training. The signed attendance sheet and details of the update to be filed by the Club Secretary.

All trainers should remain current on RLSS Lifesavers Policies.

SELSC should have a nominated Club Welfare Officer, who is supported by a Branch Child Protection Officer and two National Child Protection Officers.

Any members with cause for concern should initially contact the Club Welfare Officer who will follow RLSS guidelines to resolve the issue.
