St Edmundsbury Life Saving Club

The club operates according to strict health and safety guidelines.

Club Rules
All club members are expected to abide by the club rules at all times.

Instructors
All classes are taught by RLSS UK qualified instructors. Information about the instructors is given on our Class Information page.

Child Protection
Our Child Protection Policy can be viewed here . It is based upon 'Child Welfare, Good Practice and Child Protection Policy and Procedures', published by RLSS UK in conjunction with NSPCC.

General Lifesaving
For general lifesaving, trainers are expected to follow the guidance stated in 'RLSS UK Policy Statements'.

Swimming Teachers
For swimming coaching and teaching, there is a further Code of Practice included in the Award workbook for 'National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches', published in 2006 by RLSS UK. In addition guidance is given in 'Safe Supervision', published by RLSS UK, ASA, ISRM and ISTC.

Lifeguarding
For Lifeguarding the standard society Code of Practice above is to be followed, but there are several other publications that may influence its application, including:

Waterslides - A Code of Practise for their Safe Operation (ISRM)
Diving & Jumping in Swimming Pools (ISRM)
The Use of Play Equipment & Water Features (ISRM)
