Information provided by Cecil and Larter: As a company, we like to give something back to the local community, and we support a number of local causes and charities. These organisations bring people together, develop skills or assist people in need from all walks of life.

Our major association is with a local environment group, and we also help a number of sports clubs and teams based in and around Bury St Edmunds. Local charities also benefit, and we help bring the past to life by contributing to the upkeep and display of old aircraft.

Cecil and Larter was founded back in 1927, so we will be celebrating eighty years in business in 2007. Throughout the period we've been trading we have taken our responsibilities as a part of the local community very seriously. That's why we have actively supported many worthy, local causes through the decades and this aspect of our business continues to flourish today.

Local sport, such a vital component of a healthy community, is a significant beneficiary but we also support causes such as: The Greenlight Trust, a local environmental charity; St Nicholas's Hospice; and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Cecil & Larter was founded in the 1920s and has always been in private ownership. The business was very successful in the early decades but when Volvo awarded the company the franchise for the Bury St. Edmunds area in 1970 a whole new era of support and service developed.

Cecil & Larter has developed into a multi-franchise group since those early days and now represents the Saab and Seat brands, as well as Volvo. All three brands are based at the company's headquarters on Mildenhall Road in Bury St Edmunds at a site ideal for modern car retailing.

Our main strength lies in our people. We pride ourselves on the fact that we retain the best and most experienced people ensuring that our customers always receive a consistently high level of service. Our philosophy is simple. If we ensure we have the best people to look after our customers, our customers will return.

We have specialist, skilled technicians in each of the three franchises that we represent, in each case with many years experience on the brand in question. This level of expertise ensures that we are able to offer a truly exceptional service. And ensuring that we retain the best people means the customer gets to deal with the same friendly person again and again, confident in the knowledge that an expert will attend to the technical matters.
